RG Studio
— Where Art Meets the Object
RG Studio is a creative research and production studio operating at the intersection of art and design. Founded by Raoul Gilioli, the studio develops limited-edition collections and site-specific installations for galleries, museums, and private collectors worldwide. A small, dedicated team supports the studio's creative vision — managing relationships, communications, and production — allowing the creative process to remain at the center of everything.
At RG Studio, every object is a narrative. Every collection is a question posed to those who inhabit it.
Raoul Gilioli — Founder & Creative Director
Raoul Gilioli's path has never followed a straight line — and that is precisely its strength.
After graduating from art school, he spent three years in Central America documenting indigenous communities and their relationship with the world: a formative encounter with beauty in its most essential, unmediated form. This experience shaped a gaze that would never again separate aesthetics from meaning, or form from human story.
Back in Europe, a year in Rotterdam at the atelier of a renowned artist and designer deepened his understanding of the dialogue between art and functional object — between the sculptural and the liveable. Returning to Italy, he founded a gallery and began producing public art installations for European museums, alongside self-produced design collections that have remained, throughout, conceptual in nature and intimate in spirit.
His work spans multiple disciplines and geographies. A permanent public monument dedicated to skate culture stands in Turin — a tribute to a generation that claimed urban space as a territory of freedom and identity. A series of multi-material installations exploring gender-based violence has brought his practice into the territory of social engagement, where art becomes a tool for awareness and collective reflection. These projects employ interactive technology to create living dialogues between object and audience — where the work is never complete until the viewer becomes part of it.
His design collections have been presented during Milano Design Week, one of the most prestigious stages in the international design calendar, and have attracted the attention of collectors and institutions across Europe, Australia, and the United States — with recent projects completed in Melbourne and San Francisco. A long-standing collaboration with a Hong Kong gallery extends his presence into the Asian market, where his poetic yet rigorous approach to design as cultural narrative resonates with a sophisticated international audience.
In 2024, RG Studio won a significant European design grant — a recognition that affirms the studio's position at the forefront of research-driven design, where craft, concept, and cultural vision converge.
Nature, the human body, dreams, fears, fantasy — these are his recurring territories. Not as themes, but as living matter from which objects are born. Each piece asks to be approached, inhabited, questioned. The boundary between art and design dissolves in favor of something rarer: objects that speak, and spaces that listen.
RG Studio's collections are produced in limited editions, with artisanal processes and materials chosen for their capacity to hold memory — steel, wood, glass, velvet, resin, stone. Each piece is numbered, signed, and conceived as both functional sculpture and cultural statement.
